Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon that is well known to shelter workers and rescue organizations across the nation. Black dogs are much more difficult to find homes for. They are the last dogs to find homes and often among the first to be euthanized.

This is Pepper, he waited at the shelter for over a year before I was lucky enough to be asked to foster! He was so scared of people and considered unadoptable—but now he is blooming with confidence. I adopted him recently because how could you say goodbye to that face?!
